Moodus Reservoir Preservation Group’s third annual boat parade results

The July 4 Moodus Reservoir Preservation Group’s third annual boat parade had a patriotic theme with boats ranging in size from a repurposed sand box to ski boats to full-sized pontoon boats, all with flags aplenty.
Judging was headed by Melisssa Ziobron, currently running to fill Ireine Haines position as our Representative in the Connecticut House.
The winners receiving gift certificates were:
First Prize, $100: Ira and Carol MacCollum with a pontoon boat featuring an American Eagle and the Statute of Liberty.
Second Prize, $50: Bob and Betsy Bochman with a pontoon boat featuring a Statue of Liberty and a live trumpet player belting out patriotic numbers.
Third Prize $25: Ryan McCue in a repurposed sandbox decorated with flags.
A good time was had by all and our hats are off to all the participants who showed such imagination and talent.
